Fire hazard now low in most of northeast

There were no new forest fires in Northeastern Ontario by the late afternoon of Aug. 21.

There are still a few forest fires burning in the region, though.

Algonquin Park 20, located near Highfalls Lake, is under control at 48 hectares. There are currently three crews committed to this fire. Crews have utilized infrared scanning to help extinguish hot spots in recent days. 

North Bay 32, which was located 12.5 km west of Latchford, is now out.

The fire hazard is showing low in most of the northeast region, except for the far north, which is showing a moderate to high hazard today.
