GSFS Deputy Chief Jesse Oshell published this photo to Twitter of the scene at AIM Recyclers on Kelly Lake Road after a June 28 fire.

A fire at a business on Kelly Lake Road on June 28 has been deemed not suspicious by Greater Sudbury Fire Services.

Deputy Fire Chief Jesse Oshell said workers on-site near AIM Recyclers called in the fire on Tuesday morning. He said the business did not have any personnel on hand at the time.

“(The) fire smoldered in the building for some time, spreading to the walls and attic space prior to being discovered,” Oshell said.

He said fighting the the fire was a challenge because the business is housed in a former residential building with additions attached to it and a multi-layered roof.

Oshelle said the fire was determined not to be suspicious and estimated the damage at $250,000.

There were no injuries associated with the fire or the efforts to fight it.
