Firefighter injured battling Brodie Street blaze

A city firefighter was injured last night battling a blaze in a home on Brodie Avenue in Sudbury.* Firefighters were called to the home at 9:43 p.m. on Aug. 13.

A city firefighter was injured last night battling a blaze in a home on Brodie Avenue in Sudbury.*

Firefighters were called to the home at 9:43 p.m. on Aug. 13. It took three fire stations, six fire vehicles and 17 firefighters to get the fire under control.


Although the fire service lists the fire damage to the 1.5-storey home as moderate, smoke damage was severe. The estimated dollar loss is around $220,000.

Three people had to be evacuated from the home. The fire displaced four people.

While no civilians were injured, one firefighter was hurt. The fire service didn't describe the nature of the firefighter's injuries or how severe they are.

*The news release said the fire was on Brodie Street, which is in Garson, but the fire actually occurred on  Brodie Avenue, which is in Sudbury. Thanks to readers for pointing out the error.
