Recent heavy rain and rapid snow melt has produced significant runoff to area lakes and rivers. Rivers have risen beyond the banks with flooding occurring within low-lying areas.

The Sturgeon River and French River will continue to experience high water levels and flows as the high inflows move downstream through the river systems, which will result in the potential for property damage.

The Ministry of Natural Resources is advising area residents to take necessary action to protect property in flood-prone areas within the French River and Sturgeon River watershed. The public should exercise caution around fast-flowing rivers.

The forecast is for warmer weather for the next few days with showers later in the week.
