With 10 to 15 cm of snow in the forecast today, Environment Canada has issued a winter travel advisory through to this evening.

The highest amounts are expected along and south of the Highway 17 corridor, including the communities of Greater Sudbury, North Bay, Manitoulin Island, and Killarney. Sections of Highway 17, Highway 69, Highway 11 and Highway 6 will be impacted.

The snow is expected to be heaviest between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

"Motorists should allow extra time to reach their destination. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop."

Environment Canada said the cause of the advisory is "a potent Alberta Clipper" that will track across central Lake Huron today bringing heavy snow.
