One hour ago, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) issued a two-hour voluntary notice of evacuation for the Municipality of Gogama.

Gogama Fire Department said the fire is at 500 hectares and 4.5 km from the town.

As a result of the fire and low visibility, Hwy 144 has been closed from the Watershed to Hwy 661.

Anyone wishing to leave the area may do so North of Timmins and is asked to sign-out at the Community Centre prior to departure.

Updates can be found here or by calling the MNRF at 705-235-1300.
