Nickel Belt MPP France Gélinas will be the riding’s candidate in the upcoming June provincial election.

The MPP’s candidacy was unopposed for the nomination, which was held on Jan. 11.

“We are ecstatic to have France as our candidate once again and we are now election ready,” said Kent MacNeill, president of the Nickel Belt Riding Association.

In a press release, Gélinas said she looks forward to continue her work and “making positive changes in Nickel Belt.”

“I am very proud to be the Nickel Belt NDP candidate,” she said. “I am also very pleased with the work that has been accomplished since I began in 2007 (the year she was first elected). I have worked hard on improving the life of Nickel Belt residents from Foleyet to Alban and Worthington to Wahnapitae. I look forward to the challenges ahead.”

Provincial election day in Ontario is June 2.
