Greater Sudbury Transit is offering free public transportation to the annual tree lighting ceremony and Santa Claus Parade in Capreol, this Saturday, Nov. 28.
Passengers boarding Route 703 Val Caron / Hanmer / Capreol between 2:30 p.m. and 9:25 p.m. will travel to and from Capreol, free of charge.
Passengers are asked to inform the bus operator they are attending the festivities.
Route 703 departs the downtown transit terminal at 2:30 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. to arrive in time for the festivities. Passengers connecting from other citywide transit routes may request free fare with a transfer to Route 703 at either of these times.
Following the Parade, buses depart the Capreol Arena bus stop at 7:13 p.m. and 9:13 p.m. and the Young at Bloor bus stop at 7:25 p.m. and 9:25 p.m. at no charge to riders.
Passengers connecting to other citywide transit routes may request a transfer at no charge.
Festivities include the annual Candle Walk & Tree Lighting Ceremony beginning at 5 p.m. at the Northern Ontario Railway Museum, from where all those gathered will walk to the Cenotaph for carol singing, the tree lighting, wagon rides and a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Claus.
Following the 6 p.m. Santa Claus Parade and fireworks display, participants will enjoy refreshments and entertainment at the Capreol Arena. Event details are available online at [email protected]
