Public Health Sudbury and Districts (PHSD) will hold dental screening clinics in July and August for children and youths, aged 17 and younger. The purpose of the screening is to identify the overall dental health of the children and to identify any signs of urgent dental needs, said a news release from the health unit.
PHSD said the screening program will involve a registered dental hygienist to provide the visual dental screening and to make parents aware of issues that need care. Dental screening is not regarded as a full checkup, but it is a quick and efficient way to determine the condition of an individual’s oral health.
The screenings will be carried out on Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the following days:
- July 7, 14, 21, 28
- August 4, 11, 18, 25
Public health said if screening shows that a follow-up with a dentist is recommended, PHSD can help you find one. If you don’t have dental coverage and can’t afford dental care, PHSD can find out if you qualify for financial assistance through Healthy Smiles Ontario, said the health unit.
Also, PHSD said no appointment necessary. Drop into 1300 Paris Street any Thursday in July or August, between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Remember to wear a mask and stay home if you’re sick or isolating.
