A series of presentations coming up at all Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario (CSPGNO) secondary schools will raise awareness of the issues faced by members of the LGBT community.

La tournée HAUT et FORT is aimed at fostering an atmosphere of inclusiveness, tolerance and resilience in CSPGNO’s schools and communities.

Morning information sessions will be provided to students and staff members, specialized afternoon sessions will be available for groups of students, and evening information sessions are planned for parents and members of the community in Noëlville, Elliot Lake, Dubreuilville, Marathon, Longlac and Greater Sudbury.

The presentations will touch on homophobia, biphobia, transphobia and heterosexism, and presenters will share their own personal journey and experiences.

Professional resources will support and equip staff members and the community to improve the learning environments and ensure a safe an inclusive atmosphere in schools.

Among the speakers will be Sophie Ducharme, a member of the LGBT community who's a freelance artist with francophone cultural organizations in Sudbury.
