United Way Sudbury and Nipissing Districts’ GenNext cabinet hosted an appreciation dinner for the Day of Caring volunteers Oct. 24.

Volunteers enjoyed pizza and refreshments, reminisced on their volunteer experience, received thank you messages from the agencies and a certificate for their hard work and dedication.

The Day of Caring brings social service organizations together with community members to work on one-day projects that benefit the entire community.
Volunteers have the chance to use their skills and interests by taking part in meaningful work projects at local agencies.

On Oct. 13, volunteers participated in a boardroom revitalization project at the Elizabeth Fry Society, tree planting with Conservation Sudbury, building a bench for the Sudbury Action Centre for Youth, painting a client group room at Rockhaven, and helping to paint and prepare Theatre Cambrian’s performance space for the upcoming production of Fame.

The cabinet would also like to extend its thanks to the community organizations that participated in this year’s Day of Caring and look forward to working closely with them in the future.

“We wanted to recognize and celebrate our volunteers to let them know that what they do has a positive impact on our community,” Ashley Tremblay, GenNext cabinet vice chair. “We are truly thrilled by this year’s success.”
