Any ladies with a hankering for handsome hunks need look no further than the Northern Cancer Foundation's first-ever Gentlemen for Hope charity auction.
Any ladies with a hankering for handsome hunks need look no further than the Northern Cancer Foundation's first-ever Gentlemen for Hope charity auction.

The Foundation is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and is playing host to the inaugural event on May 25.

It is an event that promises to deliver an elegant, fun-filled evening at one of Sudbury's finest event venues, Bryston's on the Park, according to organizers. The fundraiser will feature signature cocktails, a DeBritz Blitz jewelry giveaway and dancing. The main feature, of course, will be 10 of Sudbury's finest gentlemen who will present guests with 10 fantastic prize packages up for auction.

Items such as yearly memberships to local attractions, photography sessions, private cooking classes, spa treatments, limo rides and fabulous getaways are just some of the features of this one-of-a-kind event.

The charity auction is NFC's latest Signature Event offered in the past few years. When the time came to discuss how to celebrate its 20th year of service in the region, a fun evening geared to women and their taste for finer things came to mind, according to Tannys Laughren, executive director of the Foundation.

“This event has been in the works for a couple of years,” Laughren said. “We wanted something that was unique to the community’s existing social calendar, and definitely top-drawer. The gentlemen that have joined us for our inaugural event are ones who truly understand the importance of supporting local cancer care in their community.”

The 2012 Gentlemen of Hope are:

- Jason Turnbull, host of CBC Points North
- Chris Mercer, Chief of Staff, Laurentian University
- Shawn McLaren, promotions director, KICX FM
- Wayne Tonelli, co-chair of Miners for Cancer, NCF Board member
- Phil Perra, NCF friend and supporter
- Chris Spry, NCF friend and supporter
- Ben Mercer, reporter, CTV
- Jason Nelson, City of Greater Sudbury
- Caz Taback, executive member, Miners for Cancer
- Trent Cull, head coach, Sudbury Wolves

Tickets are $75 each and include a cocktail reception, an elegant dinner prepared by the Bryston’s staff, a diamond ring giveaway sponsored by DeBrittz Jewellers, live entertainment by Absolute Weddings and more.

Individual or group sales are available by visiting the Foundation office at 41 Ramsey Lake Rd., or by calling 705-523-4673.
