The Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce is hosting all-candidates debates this week and next, and NorthernLife.ca will be bringing both of those events to you live.

All four Sudbury riding candidates will be on hand May 29 for the event at Sudbury Secondary School, while the Nickel Belt candidates will be Confederation Secondary School on June 5 for that riding's event.

Both debates will run from 7-9:30 p.m. They are free and open to the public.

“All Candidates’ Events give the public the opportunity to learn about local candidates and to ask them any burning questions they may have on issues important to our province and city,” said David Boyce, chamber board chair.

The public is encouraged to submit written questions for the candidates to [email protected] that will be used to help inform the questions panelists will ask candidates. Audience questions will be vetted by the chamber and posed to particular candidates during the Q & A period.

The agendas for both debates consist of an opening statement of two minutes per candidate, followed by questions relating to relevant provincial/community issues posed by a panel of three Chamber-chosen members.

Ninety-second response times will be allowed for the questions from the panel and the audience. Written questions for candidates will be accepted from the audience and will be introduced by the moderator, which will be Boyce in Sudbury and Geoff Jeffery, chamber first vice-president, in Nickel Belt.

Following the question and answer session, each candidate is allowed two minutes for a closing statement.
