Greater Sudbury firefighters praised for rescuing deer

The actions of several firefighters to rescue deer that had fallen through thin ice in Whitefish have capture the attention of many on social media.

The City of Greater Sudbury posted photos on Dec. 16 showing the aftermath of the rescue effort.

“Greater Sudbury firefighters rescuing deer that went through thin ice in Whitefish,” the city wrote on its Facebook page. “Successful outcome and great training!”

Residents had only positive things to say about it.

“Bravo! Our first responders doing another great job,” said Freda Fragassi.

“Thanks for saving her,” said Jean Johnson.

“Thanks for saving these beautiful animals,” said  Lori Millett Porter.
