Halloween event: Sudbury musicians putting on Halloween Bash

There are prizes for best costumes, Halloween drink specials, and more at Oct. 30 show

As the spirit of Halloween sets in, and the excitement around the return to live music rises, a group of Sudbury musicians of various styles have put together a special Halloween celebration at Sudbury’s Spacecraft Brewery.

This Saturday, Oct. 30 will bring a delicious mixed bag of musical treats: new rock/soul/funk outfit Harvey King & The Grindstone; rap group Magick Show; indie/electronic/alt. pop project The 555; and veteran Sudbury rapper Johnny Bizness.

Plans include prizes for best costumes, Halloween drink specials, and more. Tickets are currently on sale for $15 advance at Event Brite, and will go up to $20 at the door.

Headlining the night is the brand-new, buzzed about Sudbury band Harvey King & The Grindstone.

The band is an all-star cast of Sudbury players, including vocalist Will Himsl.

”We’re incredibly grateful to be playing a new venue with old friends … no tricks, just treats!” Himsl said.

The group is a six-piece, playing a signature mix of rock, soul, and funk. Their 2021 four-track EP release, Bigtime, showcases the bands' Northern ’rock n’ soul’ roots and serves as a teaser for their full length record, anticipated for release in 2022.

The 555 is a multi-genre project hailing from Sudbury. Their live shows are a unique experience as they perform live electronic beats without any computers, instead choosing to play synthesizers, samplers, and drum machines live.

This special performance will feature a brand new lineup, as the 555 welcomes guitarist Scott Richman into the fold. One thing is for sure: expect something new, something exciting and something different.

Magick Show is a horrorcore rap project/duo from Sudbury, who released their debut record Dark Night of the Soul exactly one year before this event - on “devil’s night” 2020 (Hand'Solo Records). Fans of hard-hitting, energetic rap music are guaranteed thrills and chills.

The debut, Dark Night of the Soul, features contributions from Juno winning rapper Moka Only (Swollen Members), Juno nominated producer Fresh Kils, Will Himsl of Harvey King & The Grindstone, and more. Magick Show brings the perfect spine-chilling vibe for Halloween.

Also appearing will be Sudbury rap artist Johnny Bizness, who will be performing a mini-set of exclusive new material from his upcoming record. The resident DJ will spin a specially curated selection of Halloween party jams in between bands.

This special night of frights & delights will take place at Spacecraft Brewery (the former coach bus station on Notre Dame Avenue). As a bar/restaurant, the venue is subject to provincial vaccine requirements indoors.

Outdoor seating may also be available (please inquire with the venue directly).

Tickets and further information is available on the event’s Facebook page.
