Help stop the invasion: Learn about Eurasian watermilfoil

The Greater Sudbury Watershed Alliance is hosting an information session on an invasive water plant that’s rapidly spreading across North America.

Eurasian watermilfoil is an aquatic plant can grow to a length of 33 feet, forming dense mats on the surface of the water.

The meeting, entitled Milfoil Madness, is this evening starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Lockerby Legion branch on Long Lake Road.

Guest speakers will be on hand discussing efforts to combat the spread of milfoil and protect local lakes. 

Attend the meeting to learn more about:

  • Stopping the spread of Eurasian water milfoil 
  • Jute tarps as a control method
  • Experimental projects in Quebec and the Rideau Canal
  • The trial applications that GSWA has initiated

GSWA's mission is "to protect, promote and advocate for sustainable improvements in water quality and healthy watersheds.”
