The Health Sciences North Foundation is celebrating the babies born at the hospital with a new baby wall.

The wall has been installed outside the birthing centre on the third floor of the centre tower at Health Sciences North's Ramsey Lake Health Centre.

It features a forest scene with rolling grass, different-sized owls in the trees and various woodland creatures along the ground. These owls are the focus, as they showcase pictures and/or names of babies born at Health Sciences North.

“The baby wall has arrived,” said Debra Lynn Lahti, CQI Manager of the Family and Child Program at Health Sciences North.

“It will be an exciting way for families to celebrate their newest family member and a fun reminder of the hard work of the staff in our department.”

Parents, grandparents, relatives or friends can commemorate the special baby in their lives by having his or her name and photo inscribed on the baby wall.

Families can honour the newest member(s) of their family born at Health Sciences North, or purchase as a thoughtful gift for a special celebration such as a birthday, christening, or graduation of a Health Sciences North baby.

“This Baby Wall is a great example of how HSN Foundation works closely with different departments in HSN to help raise funds and support for what they do,” said Mary Lou Hussak, executive director of the foundation.

“We’re really excited about this new program for many reasons, one being that 100% of donations through the HSNF Baby Wall will benefit HSN’s Birthing Centre.”

Not only can owls be purchased by families, but the woodland creatures are being offered to companies who would like to have their logos placed on the wall as well. All photos, logos and names will remain on the wall for a period of five years.

HSN Foundation can be contacted after this time if the parent, family or company wishes to keep the images up longer.
