Patients traveling to Sudbury for health care services will have access to improved accommodations at the House of Kin, thanks to a provincial government investment of $250,000 through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC).

The Sudbury Kinsmen Family Centre Foundation will renovate their centre in order to meet the needs of people with disabilities. Upgrades include the installation of an elevator and accessible washroom.

The investment will also help The House of Kin move forward with upgrades to their heating system, converting it from electric to natural gas, and with the installation of more energy efficient lighting.

“The House of Kin has been an integral part of our community for many years,” said Sudbury MPP Rick Bartolucci, in a press release.

“Their commitment to community based services is second to none, and I am happy to say that through this investment, staff will be able to better assist people during times of need.”
