HSN fetal alcohol clinic accepting new referrals

The Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Clinic of NEO Kids has expanded and is accepting new referrals, the hospital said Tuesday.

The clinic is a collaborative effort between Health Sciences North and the FASD North Eastern Aboriginal Partnership Project.

It is the only clinic of its kind in northeastern Ontario. The care team includes a pediatrician/nurse practitioner, nurse, psychologist, social worker, occupational therapist, and speech-language pathologist.

The clinic treats children between the ages of six and 18, and referrals can be made by caregivers, teachers, health care practitioners, social service organizations, or the individual.
