The driver of a commercial motor vehicle had to be rescued from the vehicle after a collision on Highway 17 early Thursday morning.

Shortly before 5:30 a.m. March 28, members of the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Greater Sudbury Fire Service and Manitoulin-Sudbury Paramedic Services responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 17, near Sleepy Hollow Road, in the Beaver Lake area of the City of Greater Sudbury.

No injuries were reported when a CMV jackknifed and then rolled over into the ditch, blocking both lanes.

The driver had to be extracted from the vehicle and was assessed by Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

The highway was closed in both directions for just over four hours during the investigation and the removal of the vehicle.

Updated March 28 at 11:45 a.m.

The highway was fully reopened as of 10:37 a.m., Ontario 511 reported.

Ontario 511 reported just before 6 a.m. March 28 that the highway is closed between Sleepy Hollow Road and Fairbanks Lake Road (north) and Den/Lou Road (south).
