Innovation for a Greater Sudbury event to put spotlight on digital technology

Anyone with an interest in information technology and digital media in Greater Sudbury is invited to attend the free Innovation for a Greater Sudbury event on Nov. 17.

Cambrian College, Collège Boréal, Laurentian University, the Regional Business Centre, NORCAT and the Ontario Centres of Excellence have teamed up to offer the event at the Science North Vale Cavern.

Attendees will be able learn, collaborate and interact with innovative industry partners, students, funders and researchers. 

This year’s theme, “The future of ICT and Digital Media in Greater Sudbury”, will feature some local industry experts including keynote speaker, Sarah Paajanen, chief technology officer of TimeHero. Paajanen has more than 10 years’ experience developing software products. She earned her HBMath degree from the University of Waterloo with specializations in computer science, pure math and applied math. Paajanen previously worked as a project manager and technical lead for various software companies before co-founding TimeHero.

The event will also feature a panel of four entrepreneurs in the information technology and digital media fields. Calvin Henderson (Gripp), Michael Dolinar ( Advanceworx), Rob Roy (Studio123), and Emily Franceschini (Our Crater / Timehero) will discuss the current state, and how they see the future of ICT and digital media in Greater Sudbury.
