“Organizing into unions is the most effective way to improve the lives of workers and their families,” said Jessica Montgomery, president, Sudbury & District Labour Council, in a press release.

“Unions are the key to defending workers' rights in the workplace, but we do so much more than that. We lift everyone up by working on the issues that matter to all workers, like fixing the health-care crisis, tackling climate change and making life more affordable.”

The labour movement brings together workers from all sectors and from all parts of the country, and working together for the good of all is where Canada’s unions shine brightest, said the press release.

By organizing and working together, Canada’s unions can help deliver strategic government investments to improve our care systems; sustainable jobs to tackle the climate crisis in a way that leaves no one behind; and real measures to help workers overcome Canada’s ongoing affordability struggles.
