Sudbury’s premiere Burlesque troupe returns with its biggest cast of characters yet.
On May 10 and 11, Sudbury Burlesque presents Pop! Goes Burlesque: Icons Exposed! at The Grand Theatre.
Following up their wildly successful Monster’s Ball VII, this time Sudbury Burlesque wants to show you all your favourite pop culture icons’ wild sides.
If you’ve ever wondered what rock stars or movie characters get up to when they think no one’s watching, then this is the show for you.
“We’re taking all kinds of big personalities - past, present and future - and turning them into a larger-than-life spectacle on the big stage,” said artistic director Jessica Crowe, in a press release.
“The choreography, the costumes, the music - it’s going to be Burlesque like you’ve never seen it before!”
In Pop! Goes Burlesque, more than 20 local and travelling performers will explore popular culture from Old Hollywood to Star Wars, glam rock to boy bands, thrillers to parodies. There is truly something for everyone in this show and you do not want to miss it.
Just like audiences have come to expect from Sudbury Burlesque, these performances will be large scale productions with fun, zany and provocative acts full of twists and surprises at every turn.
Beyond the spectacular stage show, guests can explore on-site vendors and are encouraged to dress to impress in their finest pop culture fits, with incredible prizes to be had at both shows for the best costume.
Tickets also include entry to the after party at HQ Nightclub with bartop burlesque performances.
Pop! Goes Burlesque: Icons Exposed! runs 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. both evenings at The Grand Theatre.
