Residents of Levack may notice discoloured water during the gradual commissioning of the new Onaping and Levack water supply system.
The City of Greater Sudbury will assume
ownership of the Wickwas Well and associated properties as of
November 30 to supply municipal water to the communities of Onaping
and Levack. The city and its contractors have begun the process of
testing and inspecting each step of a new water treatment and
delivery process which may result in occasional episodes of
discoloured water and fluctuating water pressure.
Residents are
asked to check water for clarity before starting laundry or
dishwashers. Discoloured water does not pose a health risk, according
to the city, however, high iron content may stain laundry. Prolonged
episodes of discoloured water or low water pressure should be
reported to the City of Greater Sudbury by dialing 311.
