The Greater Sudbury Police Service has confirmed that a light plane crashed at around 4:30 p.m. Feb. 1 between Dowling and Chelmsford in the area of Morgan Road.
Staff Sgt John Somerset confirmed that the single passenger in the aircraft walked away with no injuries.
The man whose field the plane crashed into did not witness the event, but Yvan Dalcourt did tell Northern Life that the plane belongs to a neighbour.
“It looks like he attempted to fly his plane, but ran out of runway,” Dalcourt wrote in an email. “He crossed Morgan road, picked up my fence and flipped ass over tea kettle.”

GSPS reported at 5:37 p.m. that it was a 1962 Cessna 180E that crashed while attempting to land.
Evidently the ski-equipped aircraft was unable to stop as it attempted to land, struck a fence and overturned. The pilot, who was the lone occupant, was not injured, although the aircraft was slightly damaged.
Somerset said the crash was fairly minor as crashes go. Transport Canada has been notified, but will not be looking into the incident.
