NorthernLife.ca is going live with an update from Vale and the City of Greater Sudbury about the gas leak at Vale's Copper Cliff smelter this morning.

The press conference begins at 1 p.m.

During the planned maintenance period at the Vale Acid Plant in Copper Cliff, there was a release of nitrogen oxide and nitrogen dioxide (NOx) mist. Emergency measures were activated and as a precaution a Level 3 emergency was called. The all-clear was given at around 8:30 a.m.
