A Lively man is pleased with his $510,848 jackpot win for the Health Sciences North (HSN) 50/50 cash lottery.
The HSN Foundation, NEO Kids Foundation, the Northern Cancer Foundation, and HSN Volunteer Associations announced Oct. 2 that Jason Schell was the grand prize winner for the September draw jackpot of $510,848 (ticket A-4700047).
Schell said he learned of his win while at his workplace and it caught him off guard.
“I was in a meeting with my boss when the call came in, and I told him, ‘I think I just won the HSN 50/50’,” said Schell.
“I work in an open workspace, so I was trying to keep my voice down to not interrupt my coworkers. I’m just shocked. It feels like a dream. I have no idea where to even start with this kind of money, but maybe I’ll take my boys and my mom on a trip somewhere warm this winter," he said.
Every ticket purchased helps pay for vital equipment for specialized surgeries and procedures, enhance care for our youngest patients, enhance patient treatment areas, support future capital renovation projects to help build a stronger healthcare system, and pay for impressive research to improve patient outcomes in the future, said the HSB Foundations news release.
Anthony Keating, President and Chief Development Officer of the Foundations at Health Sciences North said the continued support of the HSN 50/50 event is vital to the continuation of medical research and important procedures.

The October HSN 50/50 draw is live at HSN5050.ca. The days are getting shorter and the weather is getting cooler, but the HSN 50/50 is just starting to heat up, featuring a $15,000 draw on October 6th, and two $7,500 draws!
