Lloyd Reed honoured by university community

Lloyd Reed has been awarded Laurentian University?s Angus Gilbert Distinguished Colleague Award for 2001-02. This award, created in 1993 in honour of the late Dr.
Lloyd Reed has been awarded Laurentian University?s Angus Gilbert Distinguished Colleague Award for 2001-02. This award, created in 1993 in honour of the late Dr. Angus Gilbert, recognizes excellence across a broad range of contributions to the university.

It is presented on rare occasions to an individual who, over the course of a career at the university, has made consistent and significant contributions in teaching, research and administration.

A reception in Reed?s honour will be held in the Brenda Wallace Reading Room, this Saturday, at 1 pm after the award is presented during convocation ceremonies at 10 am.

Since his arrival in the Department of Physics and Astronomy in 1969, and until his retirement on July 1, 2001, Reed displayed unwavering enthusiasm towards teaching and research.

Reed was awarded the 1995-96 Teaching Excellence Award in recognition of his excellent teaching and depth of knowledge in his field.

Reed has served the institution in various capacities and was active on many university committees and councils, Reed has been a member of Thorneloe University?s board of governors since 1998.
