North East Ontario – United Way Centraide North East Ontario’s Board of Directors has announced Mary Lou Hussak has been selected as the organization’s new executive director.

Hussak, currently the president of the Health Sciences North Foundation, will officially begin her new role with United Way on Jan. 6, 2020.

A longtime Sudbury resident, Hussak brings 20-plus years of leadership experience in fundraising, community development, volunteer management, and program delivery in the non-profit and social service sector.

She also enjoyed a successful career in real estate, building relationships and supporting her community through various volunteer opportunities.

“We’re thrilled to have Mary Lou lead our team. Her extensive background in fundraising and community engagement is a great fit for United Way and the work we are doing throughout our community,” said Patrick Brouzes, board president.

“It’s an honour to be chosen as the new executive director of UWCNEO. I look forward to working with community members in North East Ontario to make local issues #UNIGNORABLE and ensuring that we have strong, vibrant communities where everyone matters,” said Hussak.

UWCNEO will be hosting an open house on Jan. 16 at their Sudbury office (957 Cambrian Heights, Unit 201) to welcome Hussak in her new role.

Community members are invited to stop from 3 to 5 p.m. Light refreshments and snacks will be served.
