Greater Sudbury mayoral candidate Cody Cacciotti is adopting the Laurentian University blood clinic and is organizing a donation day to help boost donations.

In a news release, Cacciotti says his goal is to help ensure blood products are available to hospital patients in need. His campaign is committing to recruit new donors and help fill appointments to collect 58 donations at the clinic on Sept. 17.

“I’m proud to assist Canadian Blood Services with their crucial work,“ Cacciotti is quoted as saying in the release. “It’s been inspiring to see how people from across our community, friends, family, and members of my campaign team have stepped up to donate to this important cause.

“It is one of the simplest ways that we can make significant impact in the lives of our neighbours. A small act, that could literally save someone’s life. I encourage everyone in Greater Sudbury to join us and donate blood.”

The event will take place at LU's West Residence W-132, 935 Ramsey Lake Rd., from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

“More blood donors — including first-time donors — are still needed to make the Laurentian University blood donor clinic a success,” the release said. “Download the GiveBlood app or visit blood.ca to book your appointment today.
