NEO Kids Foundation president Patricia Mills is taking an unpaid leave of absence from her job as of Aug. 31 as she runs for mayor of Greater Sudbury.

Shanna Crispo, manager, marketing and development of the NEO Kids Foundation, will be assuming the role of interim president during Mills' leave of absence effective Sept. 1.

The appointment was recommended by the NEO Kids Foundation board of directors.

“Shanna stepping up to take on these additional responsibilities demonstrates the strength of the team we have here at NEO Kids Foundation,” said Mick Weaver, board chair, NEO Kids Foundation, said a press release.

“The board is excited to support Shanna in her role and the initiatives she plans to bring to the table. The Foundation, donors and staff are in great hands.”

Shanna has more than seven years of fundraising experience. In the past she has worked for the Canadian Cancer Society and Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce. She has been with the NEO Kids Foundation team for two years.

“I am thrilled that Shanna will assume my role while I’m away,” said Mills. “She has worked extremely hard these past two years and has spearheaded our most successful events. I’m confident she will do a stellar job in my absence.”
