The Minnow Lake Restoration Group announced July 20 that the fountain in the water body is now operating again.

The fountain was turned off last month after its pump failed. A replacement needed to be ordered from Europe, so it took time for the part to arrive, the group said in a news release.

The fountain began spraying again on July 18.

Besides being an attractive addition to the neighbourhood, the Minnow Lake Restoration Group said the fountain also helps to aerate the water in the lake.

The millennium fountain has been in operation since July, 2000, with initial funding for the project provided by local businessperson Norm Bradley, who contributed $20,000 towards the $60,000 cost.

The balance was provided by the federal, provincial and municipal governments.
