Nation of crammers

Laurentian University students who are currently studying for exams can take comfort in knowing two out of three Canadian students (68 percent) start studying for exams no more than a week in advance, with 25 percent starting as little as three days before.

The survey, conducted by Ipsos-Reid for Kumon Math and Reading Centres, found one-third of university students consider themselves to be
?crammers,? which most students themselves (62 percent) define as last-minute studying ? whether it?s a few hours before, the night before, a day before or up to three days before an exam.

?What comes through in this survey is that students are juggling a lot of priorities - family, jobs and social life, as well as school work. It?s easy to see how studying can get left to the last minute,? says Donna McGhie-Richmond, educational specialist with Kumon Math and Reading Centres.
