As of September 2010, students at École publique de la Découverte in Val Caron will be able to attend Grade 7 at the school.
At its regular board meeting March 31, Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario approved the addition of a Grade 7 program in response to requests from parents and to meet the needs of its students. The school currently only offers up to Grade 6.
Parents and community members were invited to a special meeting April 15 for a presentation on the Grade 7 program to be offered in September. A Grade 8 program is also planned for September 2011.
“Adding a Grade 7 at École publique de la Découverte, and eventually a Grade 8, will allow our students to make an easy transition to high school in a familiar environment. We always have the best interest of students at heart at Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario,” Jean-Marc Aubin, board chair with the school board, said in a press release.
