Sudbury Regional Hospital recently acquired a new piece of cardiac equipment, which will make patient testing more efficient.

An echo machine has been implemented at St. JosephÂ?s Health Centre. The machine allows hospital staff to provide patients with an accurate diagnostic testing of the heart by giving both technologists and physicians a visual image of the heartÂ?s anatomy.

Currently, over 300 ECHO tests are performed each month at the Sudbury Regional Hospital.

Â?Right now we have two echo machines located at both the Laurentian site and the Memorial site,Â? explained Debbie Szymanski, co-ordinator of cardiodiagnostics for the hospital. Â?The addition of a third echo machine at the St. JosephÂ?s Health Centre will allow us to service our patients in a more efficient and timely manner, while reducing the need to transport testing equipment from site to site.Â?
