New Sudbury Days returns for a fourth year Aug. 25-26, with activities at Twin Forks and Westmount parks.

“This festival is a series of family-focused events that offers opportunities for residents to get together and celebrate the great neighbourhood we live in,” said a press release.

The community festival is scaled back a bit this year, as there's no longer a component at the New Sudbury Centre, which in the past has included a car show and mascot contest.

This year, events include a barbecue and children's activities at Twin Forks Park starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25 followed by a family-friendly outdoor movie (Ferdinand) at Twin Forks Park at 9:30 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets.

On Sunday, Aug. 26, there will be a community bike ride starting at 11 a.m. at Twin Forks Park followed by fireworks at Westmount Park at 10 p.m. (provided the fire ban has been lifted by then – they will be rescheduled for the fall if not).

The New Sudbury Days committee is also once again asking the community for donations to the Sudbury Food Bank, focusing on food that can be used for children's school lunches.

“We are hoping to beat last year’s results where we collected over 790 pounds of food and over $1,300 in cash donations,” said the press release.

The food drive takes place 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 23 at Giant Tiger in New Sudbury, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 24 at Metro on Lasalle and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 25 at Twin Forks Park.

Visit the festival's website for more information.
