New Sudbury ice castle is the talk of the neighborhood

The Ouellette family's snow fort features a slide, windows and heart-shaped ornaments

Elie Ouellette and his family have been making the best of this year's snowy weather.

With a little help from his children, ages 8 and 10, they constructed an adult-sized snow fortress in their front yard located on Caribou Road in New Sudbury.

"The kids did their share but I do all the hard labour." Ouellete joked.

Ouellette started building the snow fort in January and uses blue boxes to pack the snow into heavy ice blocks.

The fort features a slide, windows and heart-shaped ornaments (as per his daughter's request) on the top.

The fort did shrink a little during the warm week we had in January but Ouellette is confident his ice castle will stand strong even with above zero temperatures expected this long weekend.
