“Through the generosity members of Nickel Lodge and brethren of the Sudbury Manitoulin District Masons, Order of the Eastern Star – Algoma 139, friends, and associates collected a very full two van loads of essential items that was delivered to the Sudbury Red Coats,” reads a release from the lodge. “It was in time to replenish their stock of essential items in time for the coldest time of the winter.”

The lodge in Sudbury is one of oldest Masonic Lodges in Ontario, founded at the same time as the formation of the City (Town) of Sudbury in 1891.

The release about the donation states that the “Red Coats not only help on nights there is a cold weather alert,” but also ensure that the most vulnerable “receive some help, protection and harm reduction in the bitter cold.”
