Nominations filed for 2006 election

The nominations for the 2006 municipal election opened at the beginning of January and five councillor incumbents and one school trustee have filed as of Friday afternoon.

The nominations for the 2006 municipal election opened at the beginning of January and five councillor incumbents and one school trustee have filed as of Friday afternoon.

In the race for a councillor seat are Frances Caldarelli (Ward 10), Ronald Bradley (Ward 4), Ron Dupuis (Ward 5), Ted Callaghan (Ward 8) and Doug Craig (Ward 9). Mike Petryna has filed for nomination in Ward 11.

Estelle Scappatura is running for trustee of the Sudbury Catholic District School Board - English Language Separate.

The municipal election will be held on Nov. 13, 2006. Aside from candidates, the biggest change this year will be voters will be electing one councillor in a 12-ward system, rather than two councillors per six-ward structure. Deadline for nominations is in September.
