Ontario Lottery and Gaming has issued $386,488 to the City of Greater Sudbury in the form of a non-tax gaming revenue payment covering the third-quarter.

“We are happy that host gaming municipalities received payments this past quarter through Municipality Contribution Agreements,” Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy said in a media release. “Once public safety restrictions are lifted again, land-based casinos will continue to play a vital role in the economic recovery of our communities.”

Gaming sites were opened throughout the third quarter (Oct. 1 to Dec. 31) alongside various public health and workplace safety measures, and capacity limits were lifted on Oct. 25.

In the second quarter, the City of Greater Sudbury received $442,543 from OLG via the same Municipality Contributions Agreement, which distributes funds based on a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site or sites.

Gaming sites were closed to the public on Jan. 5 due to COVID-related health measures and are expected to remain closed until at least Jan. 26.

Since November 1999, Sudbury has received more than $45.6 million in non-tax gaming revenue.
