More than 200 cancer care professionals from across Northeastern Ontario are expected to attend Health Sciences North's bi-annual Regional Oncology Conference Friday.
“It's an educational opportunity for people interested in oncology to come and learn about emerging topics within the cancer care realm,” said Jessica Diplock, the conference's co-chair.
Speakers will cover a wide variety of topics, including active surveillance in prostate cancer, advanced care planning for palliative care, and even sexuality for cancer patients.
Diplock said the conference also presents an opportunity for oncology professionals to meet, network and share ideas.
With the unique challenges Northeastern Ontario's geography presents for providing cancer care to more remote, and rural communities, Diplock said those networking opportunities are especially important.
