At the time of the latest fire situation report by Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services, there were four active forest fires in the Northeast region.

The fire hazard ranges from low to high across the region, with the highest risk in central and western areas.

The latest was found Friday afternoon, near Wanapitei Lake. Since that time, Sudbury 10 has been declared under control at 1.4 hectares.

North Bay 4 is being monitored at 0.1 of a hectare and is located on an island in Denedus Lake.

Cochrane 10 is located around 100 km southeast of Moose Factory and is being monitored at a size of 74 hectares.

Timmins 2 remains under control at 4,645 hectares.

Boaters are asked to do their part in fighting forest fires, by moving towards the shore if a waterbomber approaches a body of water. A waterbomber will not scoop from a lake or river if a nearby watercraft pose a safety hazard.
