Public Health Sudbury & Districts has declared the outbreak at Marymount Academy over and all classes will resume on Monday.

PHSD declared an outbreak at the school on Jan. 25 after three individuals tested positive for the virus.

The Sudbury Catholic District School Board suspended all classes at both Marymount and Pius XII on Jan. 26 to review health and safety protocols and ensure a safe environment for both students and staff.

All classes will resume at Marymount Academy and Pius XII on Feb. 8.

"This excludes anyone at the school who may otherwise be required by Public Health to continue to remain in isolation," the school board said in a letter. "In these situations you must follow Public Health instructions."

To continue to support students, staff and families, the board continues to put measures in place to ensure a safe school environment.

  • We are following our enhanced cleaning protocol and have maintained regular consultation with Public Health Sudbury & Districts.
  • We have received best practices from the Ministry of Labour and Public Health Sudbury & Districts that are being implemented in our schools.
  • We provided on-site voluntary testing.
  • Existing procedures have been reviewed to ensure that all safety protocols are in place.
  • As an added layer of protection, all staff and visitors must complete the mandatory selfscreening process before or upon entering the school.
  • All students are also required to complete the self-screening daily https://covid19.ontario.ca/school-screening/
  • Effective February 10, all secondary students will be asked daily if they have completed and passed their self-screen. It is very important that if your child is sick that they stay home and follow the guidance of Public Health and or Health professionals.
  • A face covering/mask must be worn indoors and outdoors at all time when physical distancing cannot be maintained. We encourage parents to send 2 masks to school with their child, in the event that one gets wet or soiled during the day. The school does have face coverings to provide children who require them.
