The free panel discussion at the Fraser Auditorium, will feature six panellists – Wayne de L'Orme, Robert Barclay, Robert Merwin, Victor Pakalnis, Alex Gryska and Megan Waque – who participated in the review representing the Ministry of Labour, industry and Workplace Safety North.

Over the course of 15 months, the review studied the state of health and safety in Ontario mines. The results of this work were 18 recommendations designed to get miners home safe.

These recommendations were clustered in the six themes, the capacity of the mining health and safety system to meet the needs of the mining sector, training, emergency plans and mine rescue, the internal responsibility system, hazard identification and mitigation, and new technology/management of change processes.

The panel discussion is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. To register a spot in advance, visit www2.laurentian.ca/lecture/min_health_safety/.
