“I am blown away,” Pedersen said. “I couldn't be happier with the community. I couldn't be happier with the organization.”
Pedersen said he plans to continue the community policing model championed by former police Chief Frank Elsner.
“More than ever before, we've got to work closely with our partners,” Pedersen said.
In his speech, he said enforcement is the result of a police force's failures to prevent crime through collaboration with front-line community groups.
Pedersen commended the Greater Sudbury Police Service for a progressive approach to law enforcement and vowed to promote a “smart on crime” approach.
