PHOTOS: N'Swakamok hosts National Indigenous Peoples Day at Bell Park

Thousand of people turn out to take in the sights and sounds of First Nations culture

The sound of drums permeated the grounds of Bell Park on Friday as N’Swakamok Native Friendship Centre hosts its annual National Indigenous Peoples Day event.

Opening ceremonies happened at noon at the Grace Hartman Amphitheatre with special guest speakers. Then the festivities moved out to the grounds of Bell Park.

Organizers said the idea of the celebration is to share First Nations culture with the rest of society through song, stories, dance and food.

Thousands of Sudburians flocked to the park to take in the sights and sounds.
