The Prime Minister's Office has confirmed Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's plans to visit Greater Sudbury on Wednesday.
“We can confirm that the PM will indeed be in Sudbury tomorrow, and the main event that he'll be having is to meet with local construction workers at the Maley Drive construction site,” said press secretary Eleanore Catenaro.
“He'll be alongside local MPs Paul Lefebvre and Marc Serré.”
The event on Maley Drive is slated to happen at around 2 p.m. Further details about Trudeau's visit will be included in his itinerary for Feb. 13, which should be released in the late afternoon today.
Sudbury.com also asked if the winter storm expected for Greater Sudbury might interfere with these plans, and Catenaro said “it's possible.”
“We'll keep you posted,” but for now it's still happening, she said.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is planning to visit Greater Sudbury Wednesday, staff in Sudbury MP Paul Lefebvre's office have confirmed.
He's scheduled to tour the Maley Drive construction project in the afternoon. If the winter storm expected to hit Greater Sudbury Tuesday and Wednesday interferes, the event will be pushed back to later in the day.
Sudbury.com has reached out to the Prime Minister's Office for more specific information about Trudeau's visit, but has yet to hear back.
Trudeau's itinerary for Feb. 12 shows he's in Winnipeg, Manitoba today, visiting a Winnipeg Transit garage.
