Police honouring groups, citizens at inaugural awards gala

Greater Sudbury Police is celebrating Police Week and its inaugural Our Shared Commitment Awards gala tonight at the Steelworkers Hall on Brady Street.

In a new release, the GSPS said the awards “recognize citizens, organizations and members for outstanding service to this community.”

In addition to the previously announced awards for Heroic Actions, Meritorious Action, Police Assistance and Team Work Commendation, GSPS has added three new categories which will be introduced May 14.

These awards are:

- Sergeant Richard McDonald Memorial Award;
- Constable Joseph MacDonald Memorial Award; and
- Nicole Belair Service Above Self Award.
