It's been a tough week for power outages in Greater Sudbury.

After this week's storm knocked out power in several parts of the city, a pole fire at the Martindale substation on Maley Drive plunged about 7,800 people in Minnow Lake and New Sudbury into the dark Saturday morning.

"Crews working to restore power but NO ETR so please do not call to ask," Sudbury Hydro tweeted Saturday around 10:30 am.

Then a short while later, they tweeted "LET THERE BE LIGHT!"

"Power being restored in stages ... And now, New Sud, you may resume your regularly scheduled Saturday activities."

It took about an hour-and-a-half to restore power to all Greater Sudbury Hydro customers. Power was interrupted at 9:45 a.m. and was restored by 11:05 a.m. Power was restored in sections so some areas were back to normal more quickly than others.  At the peak of the outage, approximately 7,800 customers were affected.
