Professor Fernand Dorais died Thursday, Jan. 16 at the age of 74.
A Jesuit priest, who was based at the University of Sudbury, spent 53 years in religious life.
Dorais taught in the department of French studies and translation from 1969 to 1993. He was awarded the 1992-93 Teaching Excellence Award.
He was very appreciated for his involvement in Franco-Ontarian cultural organizations and student activities. He played a key role in the creation of several of French Ontario?s important cultural organizations such as Prise de parole, La Nuit sur l?étang, le Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario, and CANO.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 25, at 10:30 am, in Saint-Jérôme, Que.
